== What is Lubuntu ? ==

Lubuntu is a Ubuntu variant using the LXDE desktop. It's designed to be a lightweight and easy-to-use desktop environment. Lubuntu is currently not part of the Ubuntu family, and not build with the current Ubuntu infrastructure. This release is considered as a « stable beta », a result that could be a final and stable release if it was included in the Ubuntu family. Please note also that Lubuntu 10.04 is not a LTS version. For the future we aim to include all packages of lubuntu in the Ubuntu repository.

== Features ==

- Based on the lightweight LXDE desktop environment.
- Pcmanfm 0.9.5, the rewrite of pcmanfm using gio/gvfs.
- Lxdm, a new and lightweight GTK display manager.
- Chromium, the open-source version of Google Chrome.
- ... and, of course, based on Ubuntu 10.04

See the complete list of applications on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Applications
The release notes are available on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/ReleaseNotes/LucidLynx

== Specific Lubuntu changes ==

Lubuntu still contains modifications not available in the official repository, you can see them in the Lubuntu PPA [1] :
- New pcmanfm2 and libfm (LP: #523433)
- lubuntu-default-settings with pcmanfm2 support
- Fix for blurry shutdown-icon from elementary-icons (LP: #527345)
- Autologin support in ubiquity (LP: #546445)

== Thanks of Julien ==

I would like to thank all people involved in the development of Lubuntu during this past 6 months :

Thanks to the LXDE team for providing this nice desktop environment.

Thanks to Rafael for his wonderful work on the artwork.

Thanks to Mario for his wonderful work on the website, the wiki and all the advertising.

Thanks to all testers which help in the testing process, and make Lubuntu better.

Thanks to all people which help to provide support and documentation to new Lubuntu users.

It was a pleasure to work with you.

This release is not an end, but just the beginning. More will happen in the next releases :-)

Tour

Xubuntu is a full-featured operating system with which you can get started right away - no need to install additional software for most day-to-day tasks.

Customizable

It's easy to customize Xubuntu to match your personal tastes. It takes but a few clicks to change the theme, amount and location of panels, font, and more. Install panel plugins and more applications for additional functionality using the application installer. Finding new software is a breeze and installation is just a click away. Once applications are installed, updates can be downloaded and installed automatically.
Customizing
Frequent releases

A new version of Xubuntu is released every six months, every fourth of which is a Long Term Support release, meaning that you are eligible to security updates for three years as opposed to the not-too-shabby-either eighteen months that you get with the normal releases.
Vibrant community

A vibrant community exists behind the Xubuntu project, making sure that there are always plenty of real people available who are all eager to help.
Key Applications

Xubuntu comes with the award-winning, extensible Firefox web browser, the light-weight yet feature-rich Abiword for all your word-processing needs, and Gnumeric for the creation and manipulation of spreadsheets. Both Gnumeric and Abiword are compatible with their respective popular file formats.

Some applications

Xubuntu 10.04, codenamed the "Lucid Lynx", is the latest and greatest version of Xubuntu, released on April 29th, 2010. Building on the success of Xubuntu 9.10, Xubuntu 10.04 looks forward to continuing the tradition of being a light-weight and easy-to-use Linux distribution built on top of the high-quality and feature-rich core of Ubuntu.

Some of the highlights of the 10.04 release include:
  • Xubuntu now uses PulseAudio to provide an improved audio experience.
  • Settings menu has been tidied to make it easier to configure your Xubuntu desktop.
  • The "Ubuntu Software Center" introduced in Ubuntu 9.10 replaces the "Add/Remove ..." option provided in earlier Xubuntu versions.
  • Xsane has been replaced in favor of SimpleScan to ease setup and operation of scanners.
  • Gnumeric has been updated to version 1.10.1, resolving most of the issues seen in earlier Xubuntu versions.
  • For game enthusiasts, Xubuntu comes with a revamped selection of games including classics such as Mahjongg, Sudoku and Solitaire.
  • Due to incompatible changes in gnome-screensaver, xscreensaver is now the default screen saver.
  • Prefer the classic Xfce desktop defaults? Xubuntu now offers users the choice to select between a classic Xfce session and a Xubuntu session.
  • Xubuntu's theme, Albatross, has been updated to the latest version from the Shimmer team.

Bugs
  • There is a critical bug in Abiword that causes a freeze for most users when anything under the Help menu is selected. This does cause you to lose the document you are working on. (519541)
  • The Xubuntu documentation still advertises the 9.10 version.

Windows Xp Seven Ultimate Royale SP3 2010

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (XP SP3) fixes a range of bugs and adds new features to Windows XP. The file is a large download and can be applied to any version of Windows XP Home, Professional, TabletPC or Media Center (32 bit only). However, you must have installed either Windows SP1 or SP2 before SP3.* Keep in mind that new patches made available after Service Pack 3 was released (mid April 2008) will still need to be applied.

The advantage of this full download is that it can be used on any system - plus it doesn't require an Internet connection to install. You can download SP3, copy it to disc or a portable drive and use it on multiple PCs. Alternatively, since the file is so huge, you can download SP3 on a fast Internet connection and use it to update a PC with a slow or non-existent connection.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes the following:
# Operating System: Windows XP Sevice Pack 3 x86 (32 bit).

# Support SATA: Yes.

# Support RAID: Yes.

# SCSI support: Yes.

# Auto drivers get: Yes - SkyDriver v9.9.

# Internet Explorer 8: Yes

# Windows Media Player 11: Yes

# Hotfixes: Yes (updated to March 2010)

# Update online: Yes.

# CD Key: Already available add.

# File : File ISO standard.

  • All previous security patches and fixes released for Windows XP.
  • All enhancements and new features that were included with Windows XP SP1 and Windows XP SP2,
  • Only two new features have been added: Black Hole Router Detection Windows and Network Access Protection (NAP).
  • The following are already available for Windows XP in stand-alone updates. Windows XP SP3 includes them by default (System administrators must choose to install each of these updates): MMC 3.0, MSXML6, Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 v2, Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.5, IPsec Simple Policy Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP, Digital Identity, Management Service (DIMS), Peer Name Resolution Protocol (PNRP) 2.1, Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2).
  • From the Release Notes: "Microsoft is not adding significant functionality from newer versions of Windows, such as Windows Vista, to Windows XP through XP SP3. For instance, Windows XP SP3 does not include Windows Internet Explorer 7, although Windows XP SP3 does include updates to both Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7, and it will update whichever version is installed on the computer. One notable exception is that, SP3 does include Network Access Protection (NAP)."
  • This next bit is going to get confusing. Microsoft stopped supporting the early releases of Windows XP. You can't apply SP3 unless you have, at bare minimum, Windows XP SP1a. However, Service Pack 2 includes all of Service Pack 1a. So... if you have either Windows XP original (with no Service Pack), you must install Service Pack 2 first, followed by Service Pack 3. If you have Windows XP Service Pack 1a or Service Pack 2 already on your system, you can install Service Pack 3 now.
